About

Master Melbourne was born in 2024 out of the love for four very distinct things:

  1. Melbourne
  2. Travel, Experiences and Food
  3. Independent Journalism
  4. Technological Development

After years of travel, Lincoln, the founder of Master Melbourne, recognised the need for a curated platform that was easily accessible and uncorrupted by outside and corporate interests to applaud and recommend the best that Melbourne has to offer. From one-off events to long-standing and highly respected cultural institutions that have shaped Melbourne’s identity as one of the best cities to live, work and travel in for decades.

The aim of Master Melbourne will always be to offer high-quality, localised advice about life in Melbourne, curated by Melburnianans who’ve immersed themselves in every facet of life in Melbourne. We rely heavily on students, hobby writers and community leaders to ensure that the content we produce is accurate, applicable and beneficial. We shy away from the negative aspects of big-media journalism that have slowly eroded the public’s trust, including secretive advertising deals, under-the-table favours and sponsored reviews/recommendations. At this point in time, Master Melbourne is not a monetised platform.

At Master Melbourne, we value transparency and honesty highly. These are part of our underlying values and morals, and this publication was built upon them. We have briefly touched on our commitment to independence in our reviews, recommendations, and criticisms, and while that is of paramount importance to us, there is something else we’d like to try to be as open and honest about.

At Master Melbourne, we are on a journey to utilise AI platforms and programs, including large language models (LLMs), to increase the efficiency and quality of the content we produce. In a time in which people are increasingly sceptical of how and where their information is coming from, we at Master Melbourne aim to strictly adhere to our principles of integrity, honesty and transparency when it comes to the utilisation of AI software for content creation.

This is why we have made it clear for readers and users to ascertain where our content has originiated from, be it one of our highly dedicated writers; or an AI based LLM (or a mix of the two). All of this information is available under the ‘authors’ tagline displayed on an article.

It has been well established that in its current form, AI-based large language models can fall victim to biases and espousing incorrect information; whilst we do our best to counteract this and minimise the prevalence of any malicious or incorrect information in our articles, some things can slip through the cracks. Please do not hesitate to reach out to our team about any issues you spot, and we’ll make sure to rectify these issues as quickly as possible.

We truly believe that AI technology and large language models will disrupt and transform the media and journalism industry, and we aspire to be one of the leaders in this feild. However, accompayning this immense change in our media landscape must be a willingness from publications and content creators to be open and honest about their use of AI technology.

As mentioned, we love to engage with our community and readers. We really appreciate you reading this and would love your feedback, comments and contributions. Below, you’ll find a “hidden” contact form that goes directly to Lincoln and is checked often; if you wish, you can stay anonymous.

Thanks,
Lincoln
